Embracing Change with Technology: The International Nanny Association

This is a blog based on a speech Aakash Goel gave at the International Nanny Association (INA) conference.

Technology’s sole purpose is to improve people's lives and while it can seem complex or intimidating, I’ve found it isn’t actually the technology - that’s there to help - it’s the change. Change is scary, sure, it is a cliché but it’s true.

However, once people begin to let this wonderful new tech into their life they can’t go back. Would you go back to a rotary phone? You’re cell phone is probably attached to you and that is because it is a tailored experience. 

We must welcome change.

Our objective as a company is to make technology an ally, a tool, that works in tandem with you, that simplifies your life, rather than be a challenge you have to overcome.

Here is the key… Augmentation over pure automation.

How can technology assist you in tasks you’re already doing, making them more straightforward? How can it alleviate aspects of your job that you find tedious, allowing you to focus on what you love and excel at? 

Time is a precious commodity for all of us – it is the only thing you can’t buy more of. Add that to where our greatest satisfaction and success come from, from spending that time on tasks aligned with our strengths.

Consider everything working like a link on a chain, each pulling its own weight and still all working together. 

Parents trust caregivers to safeguard what they value most—their children. Simultaneously, caregivers entrust agencies with their information, relying on them to find the right family and advocate for their rights. Agencies, in turn, rely on technology to operate efficiently. 

Each link in this chain plays a crucial role, contributing their strengths to the collective effort. Use technology to enhance your work. 

Empathy is a formidable asset in successful leadership. By prioritizing empathy, you can foster a more inclusive, collaborative, and supportive work environment within your agency. Empathetic leaders not only inspire their teams but also drive performance, retention, and overall agency success. As you integrate empathy into your leadership style, remember that it's not a sign of weakness but a sign of strength and emotional intelligence.
